Qinshan NPP

Qisnhan nuclear power base is the cradle of nuclear power in China mainland. It locates in Haiyan County, Zhejiang Province which is also the load center of the East China Grid. At present, there are altogether 9 units with the total installed capacity of 6.546 GW and annual electricity generation of 50 billion kWh. Qinshan Nuclear Power Base has become the biggest nuclear power base in terms of units quantity, reactor’s type and the total capacity. Until the end of 2015, the accumulative total of generated capacity has reached 382 billion kWh. The owner company is in charge the management and supervision of operation while CNNO (CNNP nuclear management operation Co. Ltd ) is responsible for the operation of 9 units.

Since the construction of Qinshan nuclear power plant on Mar.20 1985, Qinshan nuclear power base has been regarded as “the breakthrough of Nuclear Power in China mainland”, “a pioneer of nuclear power localization ”, “a model of integrating the nuclear project management into the international norm” “a historic stride of China nuclear power development from 300Mwe to 1000Mwe.” Qinshan nuclear power base has its own characteristics in aspect of safety and environment, independent innovation, multi-reactor management, personnel training, culture guiding , external services, public communication, enterprise-locality cooperation, which make an important demonstration effect on nuclear power development.

Sanmen NPP

Sanmen NPP is the first plant in the world that applies the most advanced Generation Ⅲ pressurized water reactor (AP1000) officially approved by the State Council. The plant is located in a peninsula of Jiantiao Town in Sanmen County, Taizhou city of Zhejiang province. Six units, each with 1000MWe capacity, were planned, two units for Phase Ⅰ project. Sanmen NPP Phase Ⅰ is the first self-reliant Generation Ⅲ NPP project in China and Unit one is the first AP1000 nuclear power unit around the world.

Compared with traditional PWR, the prominent characteristic of AP1000 is to reduce potential accidents under design condition by passive safety system so that the safety of the NPP will be greatly improved.

Shanghai Electric (Group) Corporation is one of the largest comprehensive equipment manufacturing conglomerates in China. It is holding Shanghai Electric Group Company Limited (“Shanghai Electric”).

Shanghai Electric focuses on low-carbon economy and the core businesses are in the areas of high efficiency and clean energy, new energy, industrial equipment and Industry services. Its products include thermal generator equipment, nuclear power equipment, wind turbines, heavy-duty equipment, power transmission and distribution equipment, elevators, printing & package machinery, machine tools, etc. Nuclear power is one of the key industries developed by SEC.

SNERDI

Established in February of 1970, Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute (SNERDI), a high-tech enterprise and subsidiary of the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation since June of 2007, is a key research and design institute with expertise in nuclear electric power technology. SNERDI is a leading technology research and design institute for nuclear electric power in China. Upon completion of the self-design of the first Nuclear Power Plant, the Qinshan NPP, in China mainland, SNERDI has performed again excellent design of Chashma Nuclear Power Plants (CHASNUPP unit 1 and 2) in Pakistan followed by nuclear engineering services. The business scope of SNERDI is as plant design, EPC contracting, project consulting, equipment research and design, project management, equipment procurement, technology development and engineering services.

At present, SNERDI is both committed to introduction, digestion, absorption and innovation of Generation III technology, and responsible for the overall design of Sanmen and Haiyang nuclear power self-reliance supporting projects while performing plant design of Gen. II plus Nuclear Power Plants as well. Besides, SNERDI has also engaged with AP1000 follow-up projects and Advanced Large Size PWR projects.

Participants in the Technical Tour to SEC & SNERDI will have one-way transportation to Shanghai for the tour.  Luggage will come with you and we will provide transport to a hotel recommendation and a central metro station.

CIAE

(Only for participants transferring to Beijing)

CEFR 460 (CNNC)

China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE), originating from The Institute of Modern Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, was founded in 1950. CIAE is the cradle of nuclear science and technology in China, and also a comprehensive R&D base which is in a leading, fundamental and forward looking position in nuclear field.

The China Experimental Fast Reactor (CEFR), located in China Institute of Atomic Energy, is the first Fast Reactor built in China with 65MW thermal power and 20MW experimental generation power. Reactor core pool type structure and Sodium-Sodium-Water circuit heat removal system is applied for the first furnace, and UO2 is adopted for initial fuel.

The fast reactor system have a fast neutron spectrum, with the resulting benefit of enhancing the utilization of uranium resources(utilization ratio up to 60% from 1% of PWR)through breeding and fuel cycle. And the fast reactor system can transmute the long life fission products and consume transuranics with a closed fuel cycle, thus reducing the radiotoxicity and heat load which facilitates waste disposal and geologic isolation.

Recommendation: Book China Eastern Airlines flight MU5131 departing HGH 07:00 and arriving in PEK 09:40 (Shuttle will be organized from New Century Grand Hotel to Hangzhou Airport – HGH)  A bus will then be at the airport to pick up the participants and their luggage for the tour to CIAE.

Established in September 1994, China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN, formerly known as China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group) is a large clean energy group under the supervision of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council of China. Growing up in tandem with China’s Reform and Opening-up drive, and the country’s nuclear power program, CGN, as a colossal state-owned enterprise, comprises its core member (China General Nuclear Power Corporation) and over 30 subsidiaries. In April 2013, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group was formally renamed China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) and, at the same time, its core member China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation Limited was renamed China General Nuclear Power Corporation.

Since its inception, CGN has been making unrelenting efforts to fulfill its mission of “developing clean energy to benefit mankind”, and to realize its vision of “to build a world-class clean energy group”. By the end of September 2015, CGN has 14 units in operation with an installed capacity of 14,920 MWe (accounting for 60.5% of domestic nuclear power capacity), and another 12 nuclear generating units are currently under construction with a total installed capacity of 14,450 MWe (accounting for 52.4%). In addition, CGN owns an installed capacity of 7,430 MWe from in-service wind power , a total capacity of 750 MWe from solar photovoltaic power, and an attributable capacity of 5,260 MWe from hydro power, including an attributable capacity of 2,208 MWe from in-service pumped storage hydro power.

After the visit, CGN will provide transportation to Shenzhen Bay Port or Huanggang Port, from where the participants shall transfer to Hong Kong by bus on their own.
Verify you have proper visa requirements for Hong Kong with the Chinese Embassy in your country.The visit will include Dayabay Nuclear Power Site and State Key Laboratory.
