IYNC2008, Interlaken PDF Print E-mail

Over 330 delegates from 30 countries around the world gathered on 21-26 September 2008 in Interlaken, Switzerland to attend IYNC2008. The congress took place at the stylish Kursaal Conference Center of Interlaken, built in the middle of the 19th century.

The technical programme at IYNC 2008 consisted of five scientific and technical tracks plus one track for Young Generation and IYNC activities:

- New Plant Construction
- Nuclear Science and Technology
- Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Decommissioning
- Non-power Applications of Nuclear
- Nuclear Politics, Economics and Human Recourses
- Young Generation and IYNC activities

One hundred and thirty papers had been accepted and were presented in either oral or poster form during the technical programme sessions of the conference. In addition to these, keynote sessions had been arranged to highlight some of the interesting contemporary topics of the technical tracks with high-level experts from around the world addressing the conference participants. Three workshops had also been arranged to facilitate in-depth interactive discussion of several important topics of the nuclear industry. 

The technical programme also included visits to nuclear research facilities, Swiss nuclear power plants, facilities for nuclear waste disposal and the Grimsel test site for final disposal.

In addition to the comprehensive technical programme, a number of voluntary, social and cultural events had been arranged:

- IYNC games
- Welcome reception
- Cultural evening
- 10 years anniversary party of Swiss YGN
- Farewell dinner
